“7 Deaths of Maria Callas” is a groundbreaking operatic performance by Marina Abramović, paying tribute to the legendary soprano Maria Callas through seven of opera's most iconic tragic heroines.

The production featured bespoke costumes designed by Riccardo Tisci, former Chief Creative Officer of Burberry, blending the grandeur of traditional opera with contemporary tailoring.

Inspired by Burberry's British heritage, the collection reimagines historical ideals of femininity and masculinity while reflecting the emotional journey of each heroine - from dark and dramatic to soft and romantic. Composed by Marko Nikodijević, the performance weaves together seven celebrated arias from Carmen, Tosca, Otello, Lucia di Lammermoor, Norma, Madama Butterfly, and La Traviata. Alongside the live performance, a cinematic element starring Marina Abramović and Willem Dafoe brings each tragic love story vividly to life.

As part of the costume production team, Danielle contributed to the development and creation of bespoke garment for “Carmen”, helping transform the vision into pieces crafted for one of contemporary opera's most ambitious productions.
